HOW TO TRAVEL FROM LARNACA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO NICOSIA
The most convenient and affordable way to travel to Nicosia will be via the Kapnos Airport Shuttle. Telephone: 7777 1477 or 00357 24 008718

The Airport Shuttle is available throughout the day at various times (please see the schedule of shuttles departing from the Airport below). The journey should take approximately 35-45 minutes. The price of the journey from the Airport to Nicosia is 8 Euros. This includes transportation of your luggage at no additional cost. The Shuttle will bring you to a meeting spot in Nicosia. Here you will find a number of taxis available. 

Another option is to take a taxi from outside the Larnaka International Airport directly to Nicosia. This is a more expensive option. A private taxi from the Airport to the University will cost approximately 50 Euros.

WHAT CURRENCY TO USE IN CYPRUS
Cyprus belongs to the Euro zone so its official currency is the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely used. Most currencies and traveller’s cheques can be easily exchanged at banks or exchange/currency spots, with some handling and commission charges. ATMs are also widely available around the country.


TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
A valid passport is required for a stay of up to 90 days for all tourists except citizens of European Union countries, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway who may enter Cyprus with their national identity card provided it bears a photo. Some non-EU third country nationals require a visa. Further detailed information can be obtained from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

HOW TO DRIVE IN CYPRUS
Drivers should note that driving is on the left-hand side of the road, not on the right. All the international road traffic signs are in use and placed on the left-hand side of roads and highways. Distances and speed limits are posted in kilometres and kilometre/per hour (km/h) respectively. To rent a car, drivers must be in possession of a driving license for at least three years or be aged over 25. Visitors may drive using a valid international driving license or their national driving license, provided it is valid for the class of vehicle they wish to drive.

There are two types of taxi services available, covering the entire island:
- Trans-urban service which offers the opportunity to share a taxi with 4 - 7 other passengers. It provides connection between all major cities of Cyprus, every half an hour, from Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 18:00. On Saturdays and Sundays the service runs until 17:00. - Urban service is a 24hours service provided in all cities. Taxis are often booked via telephone. Urban taxis are obligatory provided with taximetres and charging commences upon the entering of a passenger in the taxi. A taxi from the city centre to the University may cost between 10 to 12 Euros. HOW TO MAKE A PHONE CALL
In order to make a phone call to Cyprus from abroad, dial 00357 and then the eight-digit phone number. If you wish to make a phone call abroad while in Cyprus, dial 00, followed by the country code and the telephone number. 

WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN CYPRUS?
Around the middle of November temperatures begin to drop noticeably and the rainy season starts. During this month it can rain from three to six days. On average maximum temperature gets up to 22°C on the west coast and inland and 23°C-24°C on the eastern-south coast. On the mountains itgets noticeably cold with temperatures not going higher than 13°C. At night temperature drops down to 13°C-14°C on the coast and 10°C inland. On the heights of Troodos the temperature stays as low as 6°C. The sea water is about 21°C. 

ELECTRICITY IN CYPRUS
The electricity supply in Cyprus is 230 volts, a.c. 50 Hz. Sockets are usually 13 amps, square pin in most buildings. More than one low current rating appliance may be operated from the same supply point by using an adaptor (i.e. radios, electric clocks etc.). Many hotels provide adaptors upon request from the reception.
